FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: I was at home watching that movie last night ("For Your Consideration") and the film was about to begin. As the opening credits rolled by, there was one that really intrigued me.
It was the credit for Warner Independent Pictures, the company that had put out the film. Now, that wasn't really interesting, until the label "A Time Warner Company" appeared underneath its logo.
On the company's site, it describes itself:
As part of Warner Bros. Entertainment, Warner Independent Pictures will fill a niche in what is otherwise a fully integrated, broad-based global entertainment company. Warner Independent Pictures will provide and outlet where artists can express their vision, where ideas and controversies can be aired, where new talent can grow, where new styles and techniques can develop, where the conventional wisdom of tomorrow can first take shape. It's interesting. But there's something that just doesn't sit right with me to put "Independent" in the name of the company when it is obviously anything but.Labels: Media
